Tuna Tartare with Wonton Chips

Share

A delicious Tuna Appetizer or meal.

I love Tuna and it is the star of the show in my Tuna Tartare Recipe. You can serve this as an Appetizer or even as an entree. I make Wonton Chips to serve with the Tuna Tartare. The texture and crunch goes perfectly with this dish. The Tuna Tartare and Wonton Chips are very easy to make. We often have this for our main entree for lunch or dinner, especially in the summer months.

Tuna Tartare with Wonton Chips

Ingredients:

  • 1 Pound Fresh Wild Ahi Tuna, diced
  • 1 Avocado, cut in half, pit removed, dice the flesh
  • 3/4 Cup Cucumber, diced
  • 1/2 Cup Green Onion, diced
  • 4 Teaspoons Sesame Oil
  • 4 Teaspoons Chili Oil
  • 20 Wonton Wrappers, cut diagonally in half
  • Cooking Spray
  • Ground Peppercorn Medley
  • Pink Himalayan Salt

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.

3. In a medium size bowl, add the Tuna, Cucumber, Avocado and Green Onion.

4. In a small bowl or cup, whisk together the Sesame Oil and the Chili Oil. Drizzle it over the Tuna and Veggies. Lightly fold everything together, ensuring the Oils coat everything. Cover the dish and place it in the refrigerator.

5. Separate the cut Wonton Wrappers and lay 10 of them on each baking sheet.

6. Lightly spray the Wonton Wrappers with Baking Spray then lightly sprinkle them with the Peppercorn Medley and Pink Himalayan Salt. Turn each Wonton Wrapper over and repeat.

7. Place the Wontons in the preheated oven and bake for 6-7 minutes. Watch them carefully, if you overbake them, they will burn easily. Look for a slight golden color on the edges, and they are done. Remove them from the oven.

8. Remove the Tuna Tartare from the refrigerator. I like to use a Food Molding Ring for plating. I use two, 3.5 x 2.1 size rings. I fill each ring then use a tamper to press the Tuna mixture down. You can also just serve the Tuna Tartare in one serving dish to share, or in two individual bowls or ramekins.

9. Place the Chips in a serving dish or basket. Serve the Chips with the Tuna Tartare and condiments such as Pickled Ginger, Wasabi and Soy Sauce.
