About The Hot Dish Homemaker

I’m Arleen, a former Corporate Catering Manager. I worked for many years in the hospitality industry creating special events and menus. I live in Minnesota where we have changes in the seasons and a plethora of farmers markets, orchards and even wineries.

Cooking and creating dishes is a passion for me. I am NOT a chef or a professional photographer, just a homemaker who loves to cook. Sometimes here in Minnesota, we have long winters. When it is cold outside, comfort food will put a smile on anyone’s face!

Several years ago I developed some limitations after a surgery. I was going to have to make a career change but I didn’t have much success finding a new niche with these limitations.

When we entertained guests in our home, I was often asked for the recipe for the dishes I had prepared. I didn’t actually have recipes for most things that I prepared. I thought I should start writing them down and sharing them, since people were asking. Finding a forum would be a challenge.  My husband Brian who works in the IT industry, suggested I create a blog. So I started looking online at recipe forums and I thought he hit the nail on the head! A blog to share my recipes and get creative was indeed the answer. So that is how Hot Dish Homemaker was born!

I am learning and expanding my blogging skills to create the best forum I can to share my recipes and kitchen tips. I hope you will follow me on my journey, try my recipes and let me know what you think.
