Easy Pizza Rolls

Make your own Pizza Rolls with this easy recipe.

With the help of store bought Pizza dough, you can make these home made Pizza Rolls.

Frozen Pizza Rolls have been around forever. Most of us had the frozen store bought version when we were growing up. I like to make my own and serve them as an appetizer or for a snack.

One tray makes 14 Pizza Rolls.

EASY PIZZA ROLLS

Ingredients:

  • 2 (11 oz.) packages of Refrigerated Pizza Dough for Thin Crust
  • 1/2 Cup Pizza Sauce, you can use store bought or home made
  • 1 Cup Italian Sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 3 Tablespoons Fresh Button Mushrooms, finely diced
  • 1/2 Cup Mozzarella Cheese, finely shredded

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

2. Spray an ice cube tray with non stick cooking spray and set aside. Also, spray a cookie sheet with non stick cooking spray and set aside.

3. In a medium size mixing bowl stir together the Italian Sausage, Mushrooms, Cheese and Pizza Sauce.

4. Lightly dust a work surface with Flour. Remove the Dough from one package. Roll the dough out to about a 13 x 6 rectangle. The dough should fit over the Ice Cube Tray with a bit of extra around the edge.

5. Place the Dough over the Ice Cube Tray and lightly press the Dough down into each section.

6. Now add about one rounded tablespoon of filling in each section as you see here. You don’t want the Pizza Rolls to be too full or the Filling will ooze out during the baking process.

7. Next roll out the remaining Pizza Crust Dough on the floured work surface. Again, it should be a 13 x 6 rectangle.

8. Place the Dough on top of the filling. Trim the edges using a kitchen shears and seal the edges by pinching the Dough and then press it down with a fork. You also want to press the Dough down with your finger in between each section, so the Dough sticks together to form the edges of the Pizza Rolls.

9. Carefully invert the filled Ice Cube Tray onto the prepared cookie sheet, and remove the Ice Cube Tray.

10. Press down the groves in between each Pizza Roll. I use a chopstick, but you can use anything of similar size, just be careful not to puncture the Dough. This is just to ensure the Dough stays sealed together during the baking process so you have individual Pizza Rolls and not a Pizza pie.

11. Place the Pizza Rolls in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes. All ovens cook differently so check at the 10 minute mark. Look for the Dough to turn a nice golden brown color.

12. When the Pizza Rolls are done, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool slightly, just 2-3 minutes. Now use a pizza cutter to cut the Pizza Rolls apart.

I like to serve mine with a side of warm Pizza Sauce.
