Hoisin Noodles with Shrimp

Share

A flavorful Pasta dish with Shrimp.

I really love Lo Mein so I usually order that when we order take out. Sometimes the take out that you order is full of sodium and you end up drinking a pitcher of water with it, am I right?. Although this dish is not Lo Mein, it does have a similar flavor profile. I tried to keep the salt in this recipe to a minimum, but you will still find this dish, full of flavor!

HOISIN NOODLES WITH SHRIMP

Ingredients:

  • 1 (1 lb.) package Linguine
  • 1 Pound Frozen Raw Shrimp (16-20) size
  • 2 Heaping Tablespoons Hoisin Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 3 Cloves Garlic, peeled and minced
  • 1/2 Cup plus 1/4 Cup Green Onions, diced
  • 1 Tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning

Directions:

1. Thaw, peel and devein the Shrimp. Pat the Shrimp dry then sprinkle the Old Bay Seasoning over the Shrimp. Fold the Old Bay in with the Shrimp in a bowl. I honestly just use my hands for this. Try to get all the Shrimp coated with the Old Bay. Set aside.

2. Start cooking about 1/3 of the package of Linguine according to the directions on the box for al dente Pasta. While the Pasta is cooking, Saute the Shrimp in a large skillet with the Olive Oil over medium heat, turning once, just until the Shrimp turns pink. Transfer the Shrimp to a platter, and set aside. When the Pasta is done, leave the Linguine in the pot and turn off the heat.

3. In the same skillet, melt the Butter over low heat. Once the Butter is melted, add in the Minced Garlic and increase the heat to medium. Saute and stir the Garlic until tender.

4. Add the Hoisin Sauce, Soy Sauce and 1/2 Cup of the Green Onions to the skillet. Stir everything together. Now add in 1 Ladle (1/2 Cup) of the Pasta Water to the Sauce. Stir well and cook until the Sauce is slightly thickened and has a rich brown color.

5. Drain the Pasta and transfer the Pasta into the skillet with the Sauce. Fold the Linguine in so that the Sauce coats all the noodles.

6. Gently fold in the cooked Shrimp into the Linguine and Sauce. Continue to cook and stir for 1 or 2 minutes, just to heat the Shrimp back to temp and coat everything with the Sauce.

7. Just before serving, sprinkle the last 1/4 Cup of the Green Onions on top for garnish.
