Keep your Cilantro fresh longer.
Don’t you hate it when you purchase Cilantro at the market, bring it home and store it in the refrigerator and when you need it for your recipe, it is wilted and brown? Well I pretty much was at the point where I either needed to pick it from my garden the day I needed it or make a special trip to the market on the day I needed it. I had been storing my asparagus in a certain way in the refrigerator to make it last longer and I thought, why can’t this same technique work with Cilantro?
So here is what you do:
- Fill a Mason Jar or even a tall glass drinking glass with cold water.
- Insert the Stems of the Cilantro into the cold water.
- Now loosely cover the Cilantro with a plastic bag. I usually just use the produce plastic bag that I got at the market.
- Store the Jar in the refrigerator in one of the door shelfs. The door shelfs usually have the proper temperature for delicate herbs. Plus the security of the bars on the shelves will hold your Cilantro Jar in place.
