Skinny Pina Colada Drink Recipe
Here is a great refreshing Pina Colada Recipe that has less calories and no artificial sweeteners. By eliminating the Coconut Milk or Crème and using Coconut Water, you are saving calories and fat. I prefer this over a traditional Pina Colada because it is much lighter. Serve these at your next pool party, your guests will love them!
A lot of people think that Malibu Rum is full of sugar and calories. I must admit I thought the same. If you look up the nutritional facts about Coconut Rum, you will find it surprising. Most alcoholic beverage websites do not give you nutritional information nor is it listed on their packaging, so you have to do research.
Here is what I found out, from several drink mixing websites in regards to a -1 ounce serving:
- 51 Calories
- 0 Fat
- 5.3 Carbs
- 0 Cholesterol
- 0 Sugars?
Okay sounds too good to be true right? I dug a little further and found a post from a consumer asking about the sugar content, directly on Malibu’s website. The company stated in their reply “that there are about 8 grams of sugar in a one ounce serving of original Malibu”. Given that fact, it may change the nutritional facts that I found on the internet, however by using the ingredients I suggest it will still cut the calorie and fat intake over a traditional Pina Colada. Drink in moderation and make a few recipe modifications as I have suggested and you can still enjoy a refreshing beverage!
SKINNY PINA COLADA DRINK RECIPE
- 1 & 1/2 Shots Malibu Rum
- 1/2 Cup Coconut Water
- 1/4 Cup Pineapple Juice
1. Place desired amount of Ice in glass.
2. Add 1 & 1/2 Shots of Malibu Rum to the glass.
3. Next add 1/2 Cup Coconut Water to the glass.
4. Finally add 1/4 Cup Pineapple Juice
- Look for Pineapple Juice with no added sugar and not from concentrate.
- If you can find fresh organic Pineapple Juice, that is even better!
5. Stir well with a stir stick and serve!
~You can garnish this drink with a small Pineapple wedge or Maraschino Cherry. Cheers!
