How To Clean A Stainless Steel Table
A lot of people are using Stainless Steel Tables in their kitchens now. They are a great workspace for an island. A lot of modern dining tables are also made out of Stainless Steel.
There is an industrial element to them, but they can be paired with almost any style. You have to be prepared that the top with get scratches but when you have company or want to use the table for serving, simply use a runner on top.
In regards to cleaning them, this can be a challenge because Stainless Steel will get streaks when you use most cleaners on it. Sure you can buy special polish for Stainless Steel, but if you are using your table for food prep, you may not want those type of products transferring into your food and they can be expensive.
There is a simple answer. Here is what you use:
- Plain old White Distilled Vinegar! Get yourself a spray bottle and transfer the Vinegar into the spray bottle. Spray the Stainless Steel Table top and simply wipe clean with a paper towel! No streaks and no harmful chemicals!
- If you have some stubborn dried food on your Stainless Steel Table, first wipe it with a warm dishrag or warm kitchen sponge to remove it, let it dry, then follow with the Vinegar spray and wipe clean!
As your Stainless Steel Table ages, it may get minor rust spots. They will look like small dots that appear in a small area as in this photo.
- Don’t worry! Your Stainless Steel Table is not ruined. It is easy to remove with this product.
- Use a small amount of the Bar Keepers Friend on a damp rag or sponge and rub in the direction of the grain of the table. Don’t use too much or rub too hard or you may scratch the table. Be gentle and the rust will still come off easily as you can see in the next photo.
