Holiday Pecan Pie

Share

Pecan Pie is a traditional Pie that is often served for the Holidays.

It is quite easy to make and don’t forget to whip up a batch of Home Made Whipped Cream to serve along side of your Pie.

I like to use Pecan Pieces in my Pecan Pie rather than the whole Pecans. The whole Pecans look lovely on the Pie but honestly I prefer to eat the smaller Pecan pieces when they are baked in a Pie. My family agrees. Some who never liked Pecan Pie before tried it with the pieces instead of the whole Pecans and they loved it.

HOLIDAY PECAN PIE

Ingredients:

  • 1 Unbaked Pie Crust for a 9 inch Pie
  • 1 3/4 Cups Pecan Pieces
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 3/4 Cup Dark Corn Syrup
  • 2 1/2 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. First prepare your Pie Crust, whether you make your own or buy the ready made Pie Crust,  line a 9 inch Pie Pan with the Pie Crust Dough, do not bake it yet. Set it aside until it is time to add the filling.

3. Place the Pecans on a cookie sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes. Stir them after 5 minutes to ensure they toast evenly. Remove from the oven and allow the Pecans to cool. (leave the oven on, and at the same temp for baking the pie)

4. Melt the Butter and allow it to cool slightly. Combine the Eggs, Sugar, Corn Syrup,  Melted Butter, Vanilla and Salt in a large mixing bowl. Stir until blended, then add in the Toasted Pecans.

5. Pour the mixture into the 9 inch unbaked Pie Crust. Now crimp and finish off the edges on the Pie Crust edge.

6. Bake the Pie for about 55 minutes or until the Pie is set in the center and a knife inserted in center comes out clean. After about 15-20 minutes of baking, check the Crust for browning as well. You can use a pie ring or aluminium foil to protect the edge of the Crust from getting too brown.

7. When the Pie is done allow it to cool completely. You can serve it warm but it really holds it shape much better when it has cooled to room temp. I like to make my Pie the night before I serve it so it has cooled and is ready to serve.

Serve this pie with home made Whipped Cream and you will have a delightful dessert for your Holiday table.
